Why do I keep falling back into old patterns that are no longer serving me? Why does change feel so hard? Is it possible to change the way I think? How can I learn to accept and love myself? What is preventing me from forming and/or maintaining healthy, meaningful relationships? These are only a few of the many questions that ignited my interest in the field of psychology. I wanted to find answers to these questions for myself and for others.

My professional journey has been shaped by a passion for understanding the intricacies and complexities of the human mind and its relationship to behavior. My academic journey began at the University of Georgia, where I gained a foundational understanding of the connection between the mind and the body. At this time, I was especially interested in military and performance psychology. As the daughter of a special operations combat veteran, I witnessed first-hand the savagery of trauma - how it can consume and individual and plague a family. I wanted to better understand the nature of the disease and how I could help those affected by it. I spent my last year of undergraduate completing an internship at West Point Military Academy’s Center for Enhanced Performance and then pursued a Master’s degree in Sport and Performance Psychology through the University of Denver.

After completing my Master’s, I was eager to delve deeper into the broader realms of psychology and went on to pursue a doctorate. This transition allowed me to broaden my expertise beyond the sport/performance context and explore the intricacies of mental health across diverse populations. I have worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, forensic/correctional, police and public safety, integrated primary care, and neuropsychological assessment centers. I completed an internship at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hampton, Virginia and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Integrated Primary Care at Salud Family Health in Commerce City, Colorado.

Following completion of my post-doctoral training, I transitioned to private practice. While my journey in psychology has taken many turns over the years, my passion for forming vulnerable, connected relationships with clients has been a common thread. I aim to help my clients not only understand ways in which their past impacts their present, but to also help them break unhelpful patterns of behavior - in life and relationships. We cannot subtract from our history, we can only add to it. While avoiding painful thoughts/emotions works in the short term, you may find that it is not moving you closer to the life you want for yourself. I hope to help my clients heal from painful past events in order to move closer to the lives they want, to the person they want to be, and toward meaningful, fulfilling relationships. I describe my approach to therapy is relational, pragmatic, values directed, action oriented, collaborative, and creative. Change can be terrifying - and yet, if you are reading this, you are already one step closer toward making the changes you need for the life you want.

Outside of sessions, I enjoy spending time with my golden retriever, cooking/baking, listening to podcasts (mostly true crime), and training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

I am eager to work alongside you as you embark on a journey toward healing and change!
